Rio Madeira Forest Conservation Project

A large-scale forest conservation initiative that protects over 52,000 hectares of the Amazon rainforest.

The Rio Madeira REDD+ Project is one of the largest private forest conservation initiatives in the Amazon, focused on protecting over 52,000 hectares of native forest across the states of Amazonas and Rondônia.

By preventing unplanned deforestation, the project contributes to mitigating more than 15 million tons of CO₂ over 30 years, preserving critical ecosystems and promoting sustainable development in the region.

In addition to protecting biodiversity, Rio Madeira strengthens local communities through social programs, environmental education, and sustainable forest management — creating shared value among nature, people, and the economy.

Our Approach

A methodology grounded in science, governance, and real impact — connecting conservation, communities, and climate.

Local Impact Pillars

The Rio Madeira Project strengthens Amazonian communities through initiatives in education, income generation, and environmental conservation, such as:

Rural Schools: In partnership with public schools in Porto Velho, the project promotes environmental education, educational gardens, and soon mobile computer labs — benefiting over 200 students and teachers.

Brazil Nut Collectors: In collaboration with Embrapa, the project trains more than 30 nut collectors, promoting sustainable management, forest conservation, and local income generation.

Rural Settlements: Over 20 small farmers have received internet connectivity (via Starlink) and guidance in sustainable agriculture to help prevent further deforestation.

Warriors of Nature Program: Supported by the project, the group expanded from 9 to 23 students, winning over 40 medals in 2024 — combining sports, education, and environmental awareness.
